October 2013
All of the crafts and trades were aboard today, sawing, nailing, fitting, digging, pumping, drilling, etc! The deadline for its debut, October 31st, is pushing the work and workers  forward in a hurry. See more in the October Gallery.
The fevered pitch at which the work is being done now has produced an unexpected problem in the form of a dearth of parking for all of the workers' vehicles, not to mention some heavy equipment!
The roofers arrived and made pretty fast work of installing the new shingles on the old bungalow that will serve as a rest and refreshment area as well as the campus gift shop.
Now it's all about getting it done. Even the occasional rain shower has little effect on the pace.
The masons roared through the construction of the north wall, stacking blocks onto the vertical re-bar, covering the surface with stucco, and here, filling the voids with cement. A lot in common with the house walls actually.
There's more to it  than just building the Usonian house of course. This is also Florida Souithern's new visitors center and gift shop, and it needs to have landscaping and walkways and and drainage and welcoming accommodations.
